Are abandoned book series worse for readers than TV shows cancelled on cliffhangers?

abandoned books haunt you more because you invested chapters into them. a cancelled show at least you saw something complete

a series ending badly stings. but an abandoned book... you never know how the story ends. that not knowing eats at you longer
