Should online platforms require verified identity for all accounts?

verified identity would kill anonymity which half the web depends on, bad trade off

everyone wants anonymity until THEY get harassed then suddenly verified ids sound great. the solution isnt worse, the problem is just bigger than anyone wants to solve
