Current AI hype cycle: genuinely transformative or expensive text prediction?

its a really good text predictor that scales well. thats not nothing but its also not magic. both hype camps are just wrong about whats actually important

honestly most of whats being marketed as ai is just pattern matching at scale. impressive sure but the transformative part is still unclear to me
